Rapidocs Authoring

Overview

Fundamental to every deployment of Rapidocs® are the document templates that enable users to generate such complex documents with such ease. These templates need to be created with the utmost care since every possible permutation and set of circumstances needs to be catered for in order that the final document will meet the end-users needs.

Epoq provides two advanced and flexible Rapidocs authoring environments to facilitate this and make the process as fast and as error-free as possible: Rapidocs Solo and Rapidocs Professional

Introduction to Rapidocs Professional and Rapidocs Solo

Both Rapidocs Professional and Rapidocs Solo authoring packages come complete with a full, easy-to-use document development environment. Starting with existing 'flat' documents and forms, authors can easily create Rapidocs® templates by adding logic rules and validation to streamline the process and thereby reduce errors inherent in any repetitive task. These authoring tools can help with standard letters, administrative or government forms, human resources procedures, complex agreements, proposals, compliance documentation, application forms, customised policy documents and hundreds of other tasks involving documents and forms.

Benefits

Feature Pro Solo
Full authoring environment
Authoring of templates and documents is made easy with Rapidocs' powerful WYSIWYG development environment. The document may be tested at any point during the authoring process, and is designed in such a way that you do not need to have any programming knowledge to create extremely rich and complex documents.
Yes Yes
Single file format
As with all Rapidocs software, Professional uses the unique Rapidocs Portable Document Object (RPDO) format. This is a highly compressed, 128-bit key encrypted file that contains all of the questions, answers, logic, formatting, and changes that go together to make up a Rapidocs document. This makes electronic transfer secure, rapid and hassle-free, and is particularly suitable for internet and intranet sites.
Yes Yes
Compatible with other document formats
Enables full import/export to and from Microsoft Word, including styles, formatting and field-codes. Includes support for Adobe Acrobat PDF forms - these may be imported very simply into the Rapidocs file format (RPDO) thus adding richness, improving usability and allowing help and validation to be added. Crucially, using Rapidocs, answers may be saved in a PDF form without the purchase of any additional software.
Yes Yes
Permissions-based workflow
Facilitates collaboration between multiple users. So, for example, individual users may have different permissions, one user may author a template, another user may approve and publish it, and a third one may have the rights to assemble the document. Permissions are granular, so it is possible to restrict some users to only assemble a document, whereas others may be allowed to edit, print or export the document.
Yes No
Central document store
Provides access to a central document store, which contains the documents and templates of the users connected to that store. This enables distributed working, and ensures that document version conflicts are avoided. Advanced custom and standard searches provide filtering of the documents, to enable fast access to the relevant document(s).
Yes No
Publish for Rapidocs Classic
Enables documents to be published with the permissions such that the documents may be assembled by other users in Rapidocs Classic.

JCT-contracts for Sweet and Maxwell publishing

In 2005 Sweet & Maxwell (part of Thomson Reuters, one of the worlds largest publishers), joined forces with the Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) to publish all JCT's building contracts and documentation. Rapidocs® was selected by Sweet & Maxwell and the Joint Contracts Tribunal to power the JCT Digital Contracts Service.

Following intensive training and a period of close support, Rapidocs Professional was utilised by colleagues at Sweet and Maxwell to author and maintain the library of JCT legal contracts.
